+ Answer Frequency Summary for Additional Question Types – New Quizzes [20-01-2024]
In the Item Analysis Report, the Answer Frequency Summary charts display the total number of correct responses, incorrect responses, and no responses for the following question types: Categorization, Matching, Ordering, Hot Spot, Formula, Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer and True or False. This update provides additional question types for instructors to evaluate student responses and patterns in order to provide appropriate intervention. |

+ Submitting on behalf of [18-03-2023]
Instructors can submit a file upload assignment on behalf of a student in the Gradebook. The submission includes the timestamp and who submitted the assignment. Additionally, the instructor can submit multiple files at a time for a single student and submit beyond the availability date

+ New Quizzes [11-07-2022]
What is New Quizzes? New Quizzes is the new quiz version that replaces the classic quizzes functionality currently existing in Canvas. New Quizzes are available now. New Quizzes features include an improved user interface (look and feel) and the quiz engine has more question types like hotspot, categorization, matching, and ordering. It also has more moderation features. More information on how to create a New Quiz can be found here Links to an external site.. For the time being you can still make a Classic Quiz. However the classic quiz functionality will be deprecated in the future. When you design a quiz for your course, we advise you to use the new quizzes instead of using the classic quiz functionality. Migrating a classic quiz to a new quiz? You can migrate a classic quiz to a new quiz. Please consider that this takes some time and effort. Preparation of the migration is critically important to consider so you don't lose any content you want to keep. Find a step-by-step guide on how to migrate your quiz here Links to an external site.. A bulk migration tool will be available late 2022/start 2023. If you have a lot of quizzes to migrate it might be an option to wait with migration. + Apply filters to your gradebook [23-03-2022]
Enhanced Gradebook Filters is a new feature preview available in Canvas. Instructors can select condition types and conditions to add to the filter. They can also remove conditions, apply the filter, and give the filter a name for future use. + Previous choice for "Load in New Tab" remembered [15-01-2022]
When an External URL or an External Tool (LTI) links are added to a module, the previous choice for the Load in New Tab checkbox will be remembered, the checkbox will remain selected for your future setups within that course. The checkbox is not selected by default. This is also applicable when creating a new LTI assignment.

The Immersive reader is a tool that promotes accessibility and comprehension for learners of all abilities. It contains a readspeaker, simpler interface, adjustable text preferences and a line focus functionality. Please see the video on the right or read this page

+ Annotation assignment [17-05-2021]
Teachers can use an annotated assignment type to upload a file for students to annotate and submit directly in Canvas. Please read these Links to an external site. notes about the requirements for annotated assignments.

+ Submission reassignments [20-03-2021]
For online assignments with a due date, instructors can view a Reassign button in SpeedGrader. If they require a student to redo an assignment, they can reassign the assignment directly to the student from within their grading workflow in SpeedGrader. + File preview: Inline or Overlay [20-03-2021]
Users who link a file can open the File Options menu and indicate a preview type.

+ Webcam submissions [20-03-2021]
For File Upload assignments, students have the option to use their webcam for file uploads. The first time they use the feature, they will need to give permission to Canvas to access their computer webcam. More information can be found here Links to an external site.. + MathJax and LaTeX equations [20-02-2021]
LaTeX equations can be entered in any Canvas text field, and MathJax is loaded if Canvas detects an equation image added by delimited LaTeX characters. More information can be found here Links to an external site..

+ Pretty HTML-editor [20-02-2021]

+ New button and individual page student view [19-12-2020]

+ Recent history menu [19-10-2020]
The Global Navigation Menu includes a Recent History link, which displays recently visited pages in Canvas. This change helps users remember what page they last viewed in one or multiple courses. Please see for more information this video. Links to an external site.

+ Delete multiple pages [15-8-2020]

The Section column can be hidden from students in the People page when more than one section exists in the course. + Specify notifications preferences per course [20-6-2020]
Users can specify notification preferences within an individual course. The Course Home Page displays a View Course Notifications button, where you can adjust the notifications by course. To enable/disable notifications by course, make sure you enable notifications in general. You can do this at Account--> Settings--> Notifications. Please see for more information this video.
