Maths Quiz, advanced

This is the second entry test for maths of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Master at the Vrije Universiteit. 

The purpose of this test is to allow you to assess your proficiency in maths, one of the three core fields of knowledge you are expected to learn early on in the master. It contains questions at the advanced level of the Master, meaning we expect you to be able to so these questions after studying for a while. The conversion class of maths offered in the first period will be on many of the topics present in this quiz.

If you struggle with these questions, we recommend you do some extra exercises relating to the topics of:

• Derivations
• Linear Algebra

There are many online resources to find question within these fields, we recommend Khan Academy for exercises and explanations and 3Blue1Brown for general explanation. A good Google search will find you all the exercises you'll need.

It is not required to pass this test before starting the Master! These topics are difficult to get a complete grasp on yourself, so don't worry if you can't solve all these exercises. They serve to let you brush up on topics beforehand should you so desire.
