This is the entry test for programming of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Master at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The purpose of this test is to allow you to assess your proficiency in programming, one of the three core fields of knowledge you are expected to learn early on in the Master. These questions are geared towards use of Python, the language that will be most often utilised during your studies. If you don't know any Python yet - no worries! There are many places to start learning, such as W3schools, Kaggle, freeCodeCamp and others.

If you don't know the answers to the questions, we recommend that you check out a few of the courses mentioned before to ease yourself into Python before starting the Master. This will make your first few weeks a lot easier. The level of the questions presented are what we expect you to know at the end of the first period, so no worries if you don't know everything before starting your studies.

It is not required to pass this test before starting the Master, although we do recommend practising if you notice your performance on this test is low.
