Syllabus (ESSENTIAL)
For students it is crucial to know what is expected from them and when. The syllabus provides a clear overview of at least all the gradable items (Assignments, Quizzes, etc.) of your course. The Syllabus in Canvas makes it easy to communicate to your students exactly what will be required of them throughout the course in chronological order.
It is highly recommended to use the Syllabus to provide students with crucial course information. Please make sure you briefly cover at least the following topics:
- Teacher contact information
- Course Description and Objectives
- Course Materials
- Course Requirements
- Online Learning Guidelines*
- Course Workload Statement
- Grading Policies and Calculation
* Please address relevant topics here – how often and when (e.g. in case of webinars) students are expected to be online, what time period they should expect a response from you, how to reach you, and any specific requirements regarding online learning, including the description and the motivation of the use of e.g. collaboration, discussions, peer feedback or virtual classrooms.
